Wall composition

Having made the move from the cheap polystyrene sips to the professionally-pressed polyurethane sips panels, we are confident that our quality is the best available.  The CE approval on the SIPS systems, which make up the floor, roof and walls of Studioni Rooms, have passed rigorous tests for fire resistance, thermal performance, strength, air permeability, sound insulation and weathertightness.

That means our studio rooms are a genuinely habitable year-round environment. We use the best SIPS panels - with polyurethane foam filling - for highest thermal efficiency and lowest energy costs.  Our SIPS panels are 40% more efficient than the regular polystyrene type, costing you 40% less to heat and cool your building.  Typical U value 0.27 (Wm–2K–1).  To compare, our engineer has calculated that an old polystyrene sips building would need walls 160mm thick to come close to the thermal efficiency of our 100mm panel.

The lower the u-value figure, the better the performance and our higher spec rooms rate 0.17 (Wm–2K–1) for their 150mm panels.  So our structures are suitable as free-standing garden rooms, larger buildings and extensions. This accreditation ensures your room will be fire safe, energy efficient and well made.
