Garden Studio, Garden Office and Suites Designed with Sustainability in Mind.
Taking action from the Kyoto agreement, a shocking percentage of carbon emissions are due to inefficient buildings. As a carefully designed construction product, our studios help our clients achieve their eco aspirations. We design each building with new materials and modern technology to produce more environmentally friendly, energy efficient buildings, which retain this benefit throughout their lifetime. Over the past few years, this approach has proven to be satisfying and impactful. Looking forward, there is surely a way to go and improvements to be made as new technologies hit the construction market. In essence, we are always searching for improvements in the balance of materials we choose and in minimizing the impact of our business.
Reducing energy consumption is an essential survival strategy. Choosing to build greener garden studio rooms saves energy.
Our studios are supplied with slim, thermally broken aluminium window and door frames as standard. Aluminium is 100% recyclable, provides a stable frame for our highly efficient glazing and requires no maintenance. We have used timber in the past but it inevitably needed coating with varnish or other chemical preservative at regular intervals. As an organic material, it always had the tendency to expand and contract with the weather, compromising the overall thermal performance of the room. PVCu frames have the least attractive environmental record and for that reason, we have removed them from our standard products.
FSC Sustainably forested Cedar Cladding-no maintenance required.
Insulation is the central component of sustainable design. A well-insulated building reduces energy bills by keeping warm in winter and cool in summer. This cuts down carbon emissions linked to global climate change. Saving energy for the client also saves money - an issue that will become increasingly important as the cost of fossil fuel rises in the future. We insulate the external walls, ceiling and floor of our rooms with 100mm polyurethane SIPs panels as standard. Clients may choose to increase their insulation for maximum efficiency to 125mm or 150mm panels at additional cost. Both latter options exceed the u-values of normal building regulations, even without the internal and external finishes added in. Our SIPs panels are manufactured in accordance with a British Board of Agrément certificate so they have been thoroughly tested for efficiency and safety. Studioni Ltd operate with positive corporate responsibility concerning the environment. You can read more about our environmental policies and how we literally put them into practice, day by day. We remain committed to expanding our knowledge and expertise on sustainable building and believe our current specification is both a sensible and intelligent combination offering one of the best thermal efficiency values in this industry (independent survey by the garden room guide on insulation, 4th February 2011, rated Studioni rooms 2nd overall in a survey of 55 companies).
