Sculpture Studio.

William and his wife live on the edge of The Burren, County Clare, one of the largest karst landscapes in Europe. Rich with historical and archaeological sites, the rolling limestone pavements are crisscrossed with characteristic grikes and clints. The region supports arctic, Mediterranean and alpine plants side-by-side, due to the unusual environment and has a deep association involving and promoting the work of traditional musicians and local artists.

William’s day job concerns the health care of the local villagers but increasingly, he has felt the need to develop his creative potential.  He first contacted a long established Irish company to construct his garden art studio but was disappointed with their apathy.  Having already formed a foundation base where he wanted his building, he then found us at www.studioni.ie.  After receiving his requirements for the two-room office style building we priced the project and advised on optimum light and window heights, power socket placement, suitable flooring and heating.

With one room dedicated to sketching, ambient northern light was important so the glazing was configured to maximize that natural glow.  Needless to say, the fabulous views of the local landscape were also framed by the windows.  The second room needed to be more spaceous and accommodate various sculpting methods. William requested adjoining internal doors as well as external entrances to each room to form his ideal creative space.  William chose to add a sink unit and a solar panel to his project before installing his workbench and completing the landscaping around his garden building.
